About Textpharm

Textpharm is run by Jo Whelan. Jo is a medical writer with over 20 years’ experience.


Jo has a worked on a wide variety of medical writing projects for pharmaceutical companies, market access and health economic consultancies, communications agencies, publishers, medical charities, and the NHS. She has a particular interest in value communications and health technology assessment. Jo has a degree in Biology, and an MSc in Cancer Therapeutics from Barts Cancer Institute in London.

From 2011 to 2014 Jo served as Education Officer for the European Medical Writers Association (EMWA), managing EMWA’s professional development programme. She teaches workshops on scientific writing at EMWA, and to academic and corporate clients.

Textpharm can call on a network of experienced professionals in the fields statistical analysis, evidence synthesis, economic modelling, systematic literature review, patient-reported outcomes, scientific editing and graphic design.

About the site design

The designs on this site are Moorish tiles, mostly from the Alhambra Palace in Granada, Spain. The tiles are known for their mathematical complexity, and embody the overlap between art and science.
